What a great lunch! Easy going and laid back deli/bar. You can tell they must have a huge crowd on game days. Drink specials and free shuttles to the games.
You order at the counter and receive a number to place on your table. They weren't that busy and the food arrived quickly and with a smile. We had the pick 2 (half sandwich, salad or soup) for $10. Tried the New Yorker with the chicken and dumpling soup. Also tried with the chili. All were delicious! Pastrami was tasty, lightly slathered with house made slaw. The chicken and dumpling soup was just that and done well. Dumplings were tender, broth was rich and thick. Chili was chunky with beans but could have been a little thicker but I would order it again!
The only thing that I can suggest is that the packaged crackers that are served with the soups were soooo stale! On the way out I did tell the gentleman at the register that I think someone should give them a taste. The entire lot of them needs to be trashed! They also had other soups and I will be back to try them all. Cold and hot sandwiches.
They have a full bar, fountain drinks (Pepsi) and also offer bottle drinks in a cooler. Plenty of seating inside and a very nice Patio! -

Our search for the best deli in STL has led us to 9th street deli, which is actually on 13th street...but we won't hold that against them!
My husband and I split "the nine" and the "Italian Beef". Though both sandwiches were good, the Italian beef was the absolute best I've ever had. And I'm like 50% Italian. I feel like a sinner for going against the family recipe, but this sandwich had EVERYTHING. It was spicy, but just the right amount. The beef was tender and flavorful. It was just as if the stars aligned and made this lunch for me.
The service, ambiance, and menu were all very impressive. This is one of the best delis we have been to....thus far :). -

Deli counter attached to a bar in Soulard. Have some pretty cool sandwich combinations, but no choice to make your own. Decently crowded around lunchtime. I got "The Nine" with chicken and it was pretty solid. The bread was great. Known for Philly Cheese Steak

Best: Deli
Best: Aioli and sauces hands down
Best: Breads
Meats are fantastic, and they have healthy competition on their meats from some of the other great STL delis, but they separate themselves with their bread, sauces, and special touches like their Cajun candied bacon.
I love this place. I usually try to split whatever the special is and another hot sandwich with whoever I happen to be with. I haven't been disappointed yet and have tried some incredible sandwiches I wouldn't have tried otherwise. The favorites of my coworkers are the roast beef and cheese, the chicken salad on sweet French, and the Soulard and The Islander.
People are super nice as well!! -

Delicious sandwiches. All the ingredients were fresh and the meat was super moist. Yes. Moist. The outdoor patio is a must and has great umbrellas for sun coverage. They have Coke AND Pepsi products too!
